The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was adopted at the UN on July 7, 2017 by a vote of 122 to 1, entered into force January 22, 2021, and had 95 signatories and 74 ratifying states parties as of September 2025, none of them a nuclear-armed state.
