A reference library that sells the shirt

Most political merch is a slogan on a blank and a link to a donate page. The history that made the slogan worth printing never shows up. Left Wing Merch starts from the other end: the page comes first. Every figure and every cause on this site has a full article behind it, with real dates, cited sources and quotes that were actually said, and every shirt links back to its article.

Biographies of the organizers, socialists and agitators who built the American left, and explainers on the causes they fought for: what the demand was, where it came from, who paid for it. Every article lists its sources at the bottom, split into primary sources, the documents themselves, and secondary ones, written afterward. If a quote is on a page here, somebody said it, on a date, and the citation says where.

The cause pages go one step further. Under "Argue it," each claim you might make at a dinner table sits beside its evidence, the strongest case the other side makes, named and quoted fairly, and the answer. We give the other side its best argument because beating a weak one proves nothing. A claim that cannot win on the evidence does not go on the page, and the ones that do come with a card you can post and a shirt you can wear, with the page address printed on it so anyone who asks can check.

The shop is how the library pays for itself. Political merch cannot buy ads on the big platforms, so this site grows the slow way, by being right, being specific and being worth citing. The tees are one design per figure or cause, printed when you order them, sold at a price that covers the printing and the writing. We are a store and we say so. Nobody here is pretending to run an organizing project.

Left Wing Merch is independent and small enough that the person who answers support@leftwingmerch.com also approves the print files and edits the articles. If something here is wrong, a date, a quote, a size, tell us. It gets fixed in public by someone with the authority to fix it.
