Who made this
"Ethically made" is two words that cost nothing to print. Here is what we can actually say about these shirts, and what we cannot.
Printed when you order it
Every piece is printed when you order it, not warehoused. We are still choosing our print partners, and this page will name them the day they sign, not a day before.
Print on demand means the blank shirt sits at the printer until an order exists, then it is printed, packed and shipped for that order alone. It takes a few days longer than pulling from a warehouse. It also means nothing gets made that nobody wanted.
About the union label
No print-on-demand line is union made. We checked every platform before choosing one, and none of them run union shops. So this site does not say "union made", not on a shirt, not on a hangtag, not in a footer, because it would be false. If a union made line ever lands here it will be named, with the shop, the local and the label, and it will be a separate product at a separate price. Until then, the honest version is the one you are reading.
The blank
Every tee on this site is a design proof until a physical sample has been ordered, washed and measured flat. The fabric line, the fit note and the size chart get filled in from that sample, never from a supplier's spec sheet, and each product page says where it stands. The artwork is finished; the shirt underneath it is still being chosen.
No warehouse
Your shirt is made for your order, so there is no pallet of unsold stock headed for a shredder in January. Burberry's 2017/18 annual report disclosed that the company destroyed £28.6 million of its own unsold goods in one year, and the practice was ordinary until the number became public. A store that prints on demand cannot do that even if it wanted to.
What we will not claim
Here is what you will never see on this site: a sustainability percentage we cannot source, a fake countdown, an invented review count, a quote nobody said, or the word "union" doing work the supply chain has not earned. Every one of those is free to print, which is exactly why the industry prints them. If a claim here ever gets ahead of the facts, write to support@leftwingmerch.com and we will correct it in public.
