The story behind this shirt
Burlington created its community land trust with direct city funding and backing in 1984. By 2005 it held 370 owned homes and condominiums plus 270 rental leases in the city, and it was one of roughly 160 CLTs operating in 38 of the 50 states. The front print says "Burlington: affordable since 1984, by design." and, under it, the address of the Community Land Trusts page on this site, where the claim sits with its evidence, the best case against it, and the answer.
